Getting right down to business now let’s check out a seriously no nonsense EP release from relatively new comers Walking Def
First though let’s just take a second to put that very term “new comers” into context and reflect on the bigger picture at hand. To do that let’s ask ourselves what the Walking Def, babies, and the Superbowl have in common? Well after letting go of their debut track release “Love to Give” the revolutionary organisation GoPro figured there were no better sound then to pair with in the use of their 2013 Superbowl advert which aired to mere millions on prime time US TV. Some sort of effort which we thought was well worthy of an honourable mention, you can check the ad out here.
Although the bar was set high with a big debut release the EP surely didn’t disappoint with 4 hard hitting tracks all bringing a sense of flair and individuality to the fore. I have to be honest and say that I was won over straight away with the first track “Everything”. This little number is a 110bpm piece of bad ass bass which had me hook, line and sinker on the euphoric female vocals. Without a doubt my favourite!
Not to be out done by a huge track right off the bat these boys left plenty up their sleeve with the subsequent tracks, “Love To Give” is a dark edge disco electro breakbeat raver that’s certified for any peak time dance floor. “Let Me Show You” kicks off with the elusion of feeling as though your at a Daft Punk concert before hitting us with a chunky electro bassline on the back of some giddy vocals. The EP rounds off with a tribute to the heavy bass and dubstep heads bringing us the track “Come to Me”
All in all an absolute smashing EP debut from a real up and coming act on the way to doing some big things! Tby 7/10
Out now on Midication Recordings do them some love and make this one an addition to your Beatport crate! [Insert further witty and creative sentences to make you want to buy it] Go on do it!
